We administered a 5 question survey ( 1 closed-ended and 4 open-ended questions) to 42 participants working and living in Lagos State:

  • Do you prepare your meals before going to the office weekly?
  • Describe your ideal morning routine before going to work.
  • While at the workplace, working from home or far from home, how do you get your brunch or lunch?
  • Who is mostly responsible for your food while at the workplace or while working at home?
  • What’s your priority when it comes to food delivery?

The findings from the discovery exercise revealed that;

  • Over 60% of participants rarely or never prepared meals before work.
  • A few number of participants have work cafeteria that provides work meals.
  • The majority valued consistent delivery, affordability, and food quality.
  • Meals were majorly sponsored by self or employees.
INSIGHTS

The findings identified opportunities to address customer behaviour gaps that could validate our assumptions;

  • Provide employees with the option of ordering from nearby restaurants.
  • Allow employees schedule meals ahead to help deliver meals consistently.
  • Allow employers fund the meals of their employees.

We formulated hypothesis to help visualize outcomes and expectations;

By doing this, restaurants can secure orders and plan inventory for a particular period and employees can enjoy free delivery fee.
TESTING & RESULTS

A total number of 10 participants were assigned tasks, 5 for each persona. Each persona’s corresponding scenarios were broken down into goals, and goals were further broken down into tasks.

  • You have just registered your account and you want to start adding meals to schedule; through the explore page, find your desired meal from a restaurant close to you
  • Having chosen a meal, start creating order by adding Sides and Drinks to your cart.
  • You love the meal, you would love to add it to schedule.
  • Try allocating this meal to a scheduleTask 8: Now done, you are interested in purchasing the meal, purchase the meal.

CONCLUSION

The project included market research and competitor analysis to understand market segmentation and uncover customer needs for a new value proposition. Additionally, co-creating with users through user testing sessions was vital for designing optimized workflows.
